Ingredients

Scale

For the Beef Marinade:

  • 1 lb (450g) flank steak, thinly sliced against the grain
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 1 teaspoon minced ginger

For the Stir Fry:

  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1 cup broccoli florets
  • 1 red bell pepper, sliced
  • 1 carrot, julienned
  • 1/2 cup snap peas
  • 1/2 cup mushrooms, sliced
  • 1 small onion, sliced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon grated ginger

For the Stir Fry Sauce:

  • 3 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon oyster sauce
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 1 tablespoon honey or brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon cornstarch mixed with 2 tablespoons water

Instructions

  • Marinate the Beef: In a bowl, mix the sliced beef with soy sauce, cornstarch, sesame oil, and minced ginger. Let it marinate for 15 minutes.
  • Prepare the Sauce: In a small bowl, whisk together soy sauce, oyster sauce, sesame oil, honey (or brown sugar), rice vinegar, and cornstarch slurry.
  • Cook the Beef: Heat 1 tablespoon of oil in a wok or skillet over high heat. Add the beef and stir-fry for 2-3 minutes until browned. Remove and set aside.
  • Cook the Vegetables: Add another tablespoon of oil. Stir-fry the onions, carrots, and broccoli for 2 minutes. Add bell peppers, snap peas, mushrooms, garlic, and ginger, cooking for another 2 minutes.
  • Combine Everything: Return the beef to the pan, pour in the sauce, and toss everything together. Cook for 2 more minutes until the sauce thickens.
  • Serve: Enjoy hot over steamed rice or noodles, garnished with sesame seeds and green onions

Notes

  • Use High Heat: This helps sear the beef and keeps vegetables crisp.
  • Don’t Overcrowd the Pan: Cook in batches if needed to avoid steaming.
  • Customize the Veggies: Use any fresh vegetables you have on hand.
  • Tenderize the Beef: Marinating with cornstarch helps create a silky texture.
  • Spice It Up: Add red pepper flakes or sriracha for a kick.
