Ingredients
Scale
For the Beef Marinade:
- 1 lb (450g) flank steak, thinly sliced against the grain
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch
- 1 teaspoon sesame oil
- 1 teaspoon minced ginger
For the Stir Fry:
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 1 cup broccoli florets
- 1 red bell pepper, sliced
- 1 carrot, julienned
- 1/2 cup snap peas
- 1/2 cup mushrooms, sliced
- 1 small onion, sliced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon grated ginger
For the Stir Fry Sauce:
- 3 tablespoons soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon oyster sauce
- 1 teaspoon sesame oil
- 1 tablespoon honey or brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
- 1 teaspoon cornstarch mixed with 2 tablespoons water
Instructions
- Marinate the Beef: In a bowl, mix the sliced beef with soy sauce, cornstarch, sesame oil, and minced ginger. Let it marinate for 15 minutes.
- Prepare the Sauce: In a small bowl, whisk together soy sauce, oyster sauce, sesame oil, honey (or brown sugar), rice vinegar, and cornstarch slurry.
- Cook the Beef: Heat 1 tablespoon of oil in a wok or skillet over high heat. Add the beef and stir-fry for 2-3 minutes until browned. Remove and set aside.
- Cook the Vegetables: Add another tablespoon of oil. Stir-fry the onions, carrots, and broccoli for 2 minutes. Add bell peppers, snap peas, mushrooms, garlic, and ginger, cooking for another 2 minutes.
- Combine Everything: Return the beef to the pan, pour in the sauce, and toss everything together. Cook for 2 more minutes until the sauce thickens.
- Serve: Enjoy hot over steamed rice or noodles, garnished with sesame seeds and green onions
Notes
- Use High Heat: This helps sear the beef and keeps vegetables crisp.
- Don’t Overcrowd the Pan: Cook in batches if needed to avoid steaming.
- Customize the Veggies: Use any fresh vegetables you have on hand.
- Tenderize the Beef: Marinating with cornstarch helps create a silky texture.
- Spice It Up: Add red pepper flakes or sriracha for a kick.
