  • Author: isabil
  • Total Time: 25 minutes
  • Yield: 10-12 biscuits 1x

Description

These homemade Cheddar Bay Biscuits are cheesy, garlicky, and buttery, just like Red Lobster’s—but even better! Quick & easy to make

Ingredients

Scale

For the Biscuits:

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tbsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp onion powder
  • 1/2 tsp paprika
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, cold and cubed
  • 1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese
  • 3/4 cup buttermilk
  • 1 tbsp honey (optional, for slight sweetness)

For the Garlic Butter Topping:

  • 4 tbsp butter, melted
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp dried parsley
  • 1/2 tsp salt

Instructions

Step 1: Preheat the Oven

  1. Preheat your oven to 450°F (230°C).
  2. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or grease lightly.

Step 2: Mix the Dry Ingredients

  1. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, and salt.

Step 3: Cut in the Butter

  1. Add cold cubed butter to the dry mixture.
  2. Use a pastry cutter or your fingers to work the butter into the flour until it resembles coarse crumbs.

Step 4: Add Cheese and Buttermilk

  1. Stir in shredded cheddar cheese.
  2. Pour in buttermilk and honey (if using) and mix just until combined. Do not overmix.

Step 5: Scoop and Shape the Biscuits

  1. Using a large spoon or ice cream scoop, drop mounds of dough onto the prepared baking sheet.
  2. Space them about 2 inches apart.

Step 6: Bake the Biscuits

  1. Bake for 12-15 minutes, or until the biscuits are golden brown.
  2. Remove from the oven and let them sit for 5 minutes before brushing with butter.

Step 7: Prepare the Garlic Butter Topping

  1. In a small bowl, melt butter and stir in garlic powder, dried parsley, and salt.
  2. Brush the warm biscuits generously with the garlic butter mixture.

Step 8: Serve and Enjoy!

  • Serve warm and enjoy with soups, salads, or as a side for seafood dishes.

Notes

Use Cold Butter – This creates a flaky, tender texture. Keep butter chilled until ready to use.
Don’t Overmix – Overmixing will lead to dense biscuits instead of light and fluffy ones.
Bake on a Preheated Pan – A hot baking sheet helps the biscuits rise quickly and bake evenly.
Try Different Cheeses – Swap cheddar for pepper jack, gouda, or parmesan for a new twist.
Make Them Ahead – Prepare the dough and refrigerate for up to 24 hours before baking.
