Step 2: Mix the Dry Ingredients
- In a large bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, salt, garlic powder, and paprika.
Step 3: Mix the Wet Ingredients
- In another bowl, whisk together milk, melted butter, and egg until well combined.
Step 4: Combine Wet and Dry Ingredients

Step 6: Bake the Cheddar Bread
- Bake for 40-45 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
- Let the bread cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
Step 7: Serve & Enjoy
- Slice the bread and serve warm with butter, soups, or as a side dish.
- Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days.
Notes
- Use Freshly Grated Cheese: Pre-shredded cheese contains anti-caking agents that affect texture—grate your own cheddar.
- Don’t Overmix: Stir the batter gently to keep the bread light and fluffy.
- Experiment with Cheeses: Try a mix of cheddar, Monterey Jack, or Gouda for extra flavor.
- Enhance the Flavor: Add crushed red pepper flakes, cooked bacon bits, or fresh herbs.
- Check for Doneness: Insert a toothpick into the center—if it comes out clean, your bread is ready.
