- 2 boneless, skinless chicken breasts, cooked and shredded
- 1 cup fresh spinach, chopped
- ½ cup cream cheese, softened
- ½ cup shredded mozzarella or Gruyère cheese
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 clove garlic, minced
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ¼ teaspoon black pepper
- ¼ teaspoon nutmeg (optional)
For the Puff Pastry:
- 1 sheet frozen puff pastry, thawed
- 1 egg (for egg wash)
- 1 tablespoon water
- 1 teaspoon sesame seeds or poppy seeds (optional, for garnish)
Instructions
1. Prepare the Filling
- Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat and sauté garlic until fragrant.
- Add chopped spinach and cook for 2-3 minutes until wilted.
- Remove from heat and mix in shredded chicken, cream cheese, mozzarella, salt, pepper, and nutmeg.
2. Prepare the Puff Pastry
- Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C).
- Roll out the thawed puff pastry on a lightly floured surface.
- Cut into squares or rectangles, depending on your desired serving size.
3. Assemble the Pastry
- Spoon the prepared filling onto one side of each pastry piece.
- Fold over the pastry and press the edges with a fork to seal.
- Beat the egg with water and brush over the pastry for a golden finish.
- Sprinkle sesame or poppy seeds on top (optional).
4. Bake
- Arrange the pastries on a lined baking sheet.
- Bake for 18-22 minutes or until golden brown and puffed up.
- Let cool slightly before serving.
