- 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
- 2 tablespoons grated parmesan cheese
- 1/2 cup warm milk

For the Cheese Filling:
- 16 small cubes mozzarella cheese (about 1-inch each)
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
For Coating & Frying:
- 1 cup breadcrumbs (panko or regular)
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 2 eggs, beaten
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
- Oil for frying (vegetable or canola)
For Garnishing & Dipping:
- 1 tablespoon chopped parsley
- Extra grated parmesan cheese
- Marinara sauce, ranch, or garlic butter for dipping
Instructions
- Prepare the Dough – In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, salt, garlic powder, Italian seasoning, and parmesan cheese. Mix in warm milk and melted butter until a dough forms. Knead for 2 minutes, then let rest for 10 minutes.
- Shape and Fill the Balls – Divide dough into 16 equal portions. Flatten each, place a mozzarella cube in the center, sprinkle garlic powder and red pepper flakes, and seal into a smooth ball.
- Coat the Cheese Balls – Roll each ball in flour, dip in beaten eggs, then coat with breadcrumbs mixed with garlic powder. Repeat for extra crispiness.
- Fry the Cheese Balls – Heat oil to 350°F (175°C). Fry in batches for 2-3 minutes, turning until golden brown. Drain on paper towels.
- Garnish and Serve – Sprinkle with chopped parsley and parmesan. Serve hot with marinara, ranch, or garlic butter.
Notes
- Use cold mozzarella to prevent it from melting too quickly.
- Double coat for an extra crispy shell.
- Chill before frying to help them hold their shape.
- Maintain oil temperature at 350°F (175°C) for even cooking.
- Try baking or air-frying for a lighter version.
