- 4 slices sourdough or French bread
- 2 tbsp butter or olive oil
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 ½ cups mushrooms, thinly sliced (cremini, button, or wild mushrooms)
- ½ cup shredded cheese (Mozzarella, Gruyère, or Parmesan)
- 1 tbsp chopped fresh parsley or thyme
- Salt and black pepper, to taste
- Red pepper flakes (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat the Oven: Set your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Prepare the Bread: Brush each slice of bread with olive oil or butter and place them on a baking sheet.
- Sauté the Mushrooms: In a pan over medium heat, add a bit of olive oil or butter, then toss in the minced garlic. Sauté for 30 seconds before adding the sliced mushrooms.
- Season and Cook: Cook the mushrooms for about 5 minutes until they become soft and slightly browned. Add salt, black pepper, and red pepper flakes (if using).
- Assemble the Toasts: Spoon the mushroom mixture onto each slice of toasted bread, then sprinkle with shredded cheese.
- Melt the Cheese: Place the toasts back into the oven for 5 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly
- Garnish & Serve: Sprinkle with fresh parsley or thyme, and serve immediately..
