  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp ginger powder

For the Hoisin Glaze:

  • 2 tbsp hoisin sauce
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce (or tamari for gluten-free)
  • 1 tbsp honey or maple syrup
  • 1 tsp rice vinegar
  • 1 tsp sesame oil
  • 1/2 tsp sriracha or chili flakes (optional, for heat)
  • 1 tsp grated fresh ginger
  • 1 tsp minced garlic

For Garnish:

  • 1 tbsp sesame seeds
  • 1 tbsp chopped green onions
  • 1/2 tsp red pepper flakes (optional)

Instructions

Step 1: Prepare the Salmon

  1. Pat the salmon fillets dry with a paper towel.
  2. Brush both sides with olive oil, then season with salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and ginger powder.

Step 2: Make the Hoisin Glaze

  1. In a small bowl, whisk together hoisin sauce, soy sauce, honey, rice vinegar, sesame oil, sriracha (if using), grated ginger, and minced garlic.
  2. Mix well until fully combined.

Step 3: Preheat the Air Fryer

  1. Set the air fryer to 375°F (190°C) and preheat for 2-3 minutes.
  2. Lightly grease the air fryer basket with olive oil spray to prevent sticking.

Step 4: Cook the Salmon

  1. Place the salmon skin-side down in the air fryer basket.
  2. Brush the fillets generously with the hoisin glaze.
  3. Air fry at 375°F (190°C) for 7-10 minutes, depending on thickness.
  4. Halfway through cooking, brush with more glaze for extra flavor.

Step 5: Garnish and Serve

  1. Remove the salmon from the air fryer and let it rest for 2 minutes.
  2. Sprinkle with sesame seeds, chopped green onions, and red pepper flakes.
  3. Serve hot with steamed rice, stir-fried veggies, or a fresh salad.

Notes

Don’t Overcook – Salmon is best when it reaches an internal temperature of 125°F-130°F (52°C-54°C). Use a meat thermometer for accuracy.
Preheat the Air Fryer – Ensures even cooking and a slightly crispy exterior.
Brush with Extra Glaze – Adds layers of flavor while cooking.
Use Fresh Ingredients – Fresh ginger and garlic elevate the taste of the hoisin glaze.
Customize the Heat – Adjust the sriracha or chili flakes to your spice preference.
