Ingredients
Scale
- 1 lb ground beef
- 3 tablespoons soy sauce (low-sodium preferred)
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon sesame oil
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon fresh ginger, minced
- 1/2 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes (adjust to taste)
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 2 green onions, chopped
- 2 cups cooked white rice (Jasmine or short-grain recommended)
- 1 tablespoon sesame seeds (optional)
Instructions
- Prepare Ingredients: Chop the green onions, mince the garlic and ginger, and measure all ingredients.
- Cook Ground Beef: Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add ground beef and cook until browned, about 5-7 minutes. Drain excess fat if needed.
- Add Flavor: Reduce heat to medium-low. Stir in garlic, ginger, soy sauce, brown sugar, sesame oil, and red pepper flakes. Let simmer for 3-5 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Serve: Spoon the cooked beef mixture over warm steamed rice.
- Garnish: Sprinkle with chopped green onions and sesame seeds.
- Enjoy! Serve immediately for best flavor.
Notes
- Make it spicy: Add gochujang (Korean chili paste) or increase red pepper flakes.
- Healthier option: Use ground turkey or chicken instead of beef.
- Low-carb version: Serve with cauliflower rice or in lettuce wraps.
- Meal prep: Store in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 4 days or freeze for up to 3 months.
- Authentic touch: Add grated Asian pear to the sauce for a traditional Korean taste.
