Ingredients
Scale
- 2 boneless, skinless chicken breasts (or thighs)
- Salt and black pepper to taste
- ½ teaspoon paprika
- 3 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- ½ cup chicken broth (or white wine)
- ¼ cup fresh lemon juice
- ½ teaspoon lemon zest
- 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
- ½ cup heavy cream (optional for a creamy version)
- Fresh parsley for garnish
Instructions
- Prepare the Chicken: Pat dry the chicken and season both sides with salt, pepper, and paprika.
- Sear the Chicken: Heat 1 tablespoon of butter in a skillet over medium-high heat. Cook the chicken for 4-5 minutes per side until golden brown. Remove from the pan and set aside.
- Make the Sauce: Add the remaining butter and garlic to the pan, sauté for 30 seconds. Pour in chicken broth, scraping the brown bits. Add lemon juice, zest, and Italian seasoning. Simmer for 2-3 minutes.
- Creamy Option: Stir in heavy cream and let it thicken for 2 minutes.
- Combine & Serve: Return the chicken to the pan, coat it with the sauce, and cook for another 2 minutes. Garnish with fresh parsley and serve warm.
Notes
- Use fresh lemon juice for the best flavor.
- Don’t overcook the chicken – use a thermometer to check for 165°F.
- For extra richness, add a tablespoon of Parmesan cheese to the sauce.
- Make it spicy by adding red pepper flakes.
- Pair it with pasta, rice, or roasted veggies for a complete meal.
