Ingredients

Base Ingredients:

  • 1 head of green or red cabbage, sliced into 1-inch thick steaks
  • 2 tbsp olive oil (or avocado oil)
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • ½ tsp paprika (optional for a smoky touch)
  • Salt & black pepper to taste

Optional Add-Ons for Extra Flavor:

  • ½ tsp red pepper flakes (for spice)
  • 2 tbsp Parmesan cheese (for crispiness)
  • 1 tbsp balsamic glaze (for sweetness)
  • 1 tsp lemon zest (for freshness)
  • 1 tbsp chopped fresh herbs (parsley, thyme, or rosemary)

Instructions

Step 1: Prepare the Cabbage

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Remove the outer leaves of the cabbage and cut it into 1-inch thick slices.
  3. Arrange the cabbage steaks on a lined baking sheet.

Step 2: Season the Cabbage

  1. Brush each cabbage slice with olive oil on both sides.
  2. Sprinkle evenly with garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, and black pepper.

Step 3: Roast the Cabbage Steaks

  1. Place the baking sheet in the oven and roast for 20-25 minutes, flipping halfway through.
  2. Remove when edges are crispy and golden brown.

Step 4: Add Finishing Touches & Serve

  1. Drizzle with balsamic glaze, sprinkle Parmesan, or add fresh herbs.
  2. Serve immediately while hot and crispy.

Notes

Cut Evenly: Ensure all cabbage slices are the same thickness for even cooking.
Use Fresh Cabbage: Fresh, firm cabbage gives the best texture.
Don’t Overcrowd: Place steaks in a single layer for proper roasting.
Flip Halfway: Flipping helps caramelize both sides evenly.
Use High Heat: Roasting at 400°F-425°F ensures crispy edges.
Experiment with Toppings: Try adding cheese, nuts, or balsamic glaze for extra flavor.
Make it Spicy: Add red pepper flakes or cayenne for heat.
Air Fryer Option: Cook at 375°F for 15 minutes, flipping halfway for extra crispiness.
