Scale
Main Ingredients:
- 1 lb fresh green beans (trimmed)
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 1 tsp sea salt
- ½ tsp black pepper
- ½ tsp garlic powder
Optional Additions:
- ½ tsp red pepper flakes (for spice)
- 1 tbsp lemon juice or zest (for brightness)
- ¼ cup grated Parmesan cheese (for a cheesy touch)
- 1 tbsp balsamic vinegar (for extra depth)
- ½ tsp smoked paprika (for a smoky flavor)
- 1 tbsp chopped almonds or pecans (for crunch)
Instructions
- Preheat the Oven:
- Set your oven to 425°F (220°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Prepare the Green Beans:
- Wash and trim the ends of the green beans.
- Pat them completely dry with a kitchen towel to ensure crispiness.
- Season the Green Beans:
- In a large bowl, toss the green beans with olive oil, salt, pepper, and garlic powder.
- If adding extra seasonings, mix them in now.
- Arrange on a Baking Sheet:
- Spread the green beans in a single layer on the prepared baking sheet.
- Avoid overcrowding, as this will cause them to steam instead of roast.
- Roast in the Oven:
- Bake for 15-20 minutes, flipping halfway through for even browning.
- For extra crispiness, broil for 1-2 minutes at the end.
- Serve and Enjoy:
- Transfer to a serving plate and garnish with lemon juice, Parmesan, or nuts.
- Serve immediately while crispy and hot.
Notes
- Use fresh green beans – They roast better and stay crisp.
- Dry them completely before roasting to avoid sogginess.
- Don’t overcrowd the pan – Spread them in a single layer for even cooking.
- Roast at high heat (425°F/220°C) – This brings out the best texture and flavor.
- Flip halfway through roasting for even caramelization.
- Broil at the end for an extra crispy finish.
- Serve immediately – Roasted green beans taste best when fresh.
- Storage: Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days.
- Reheating: Reheat in the oven at 375°F for 5 minutes for crispiness.
