Description

Make the best soft and chewy peanut butter cookies with this ultimate guide! Easy tips, ingredients & baking secrets for perfect cookies.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup creamy peanut butter
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup cornstarch (for extra softness)
  • 1/2 cup mini peanut butter chips or chocolate chips (optional)

Instructions

  • Preheat Oven & Prep – Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • Cream Butter & Sugars – In a large bowl, beat butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
  • Add Wet Ingredients – Mix in peanut butter, eggs, and vanilla extract until well combined.
  • Combine Dry Ingredients – In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, salt, and cornstarch.
  • Mix Dough – Gradually add the dry mixture to the wet mixture and mix until just combined. Fold in peanut butter chips (optional).
  • Chill the Dough – Refrigerate for 30 minutes to prevent spreading.
  • Shape Cookies – Roll dough into 1.5-inch balls and place on the prepared baking sheet. Flatten slightly with a fork to create a crisscross pattern.
  • Bake – Bake for 10-12 minutes, until the edges are set but the centers remain soft.
  • Cool – Allow cookies to cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack.

Notes

Use creamy peanut butter for the best texture (avoid natural peanut butter).
Chill the dough before baking to prevent excess spreading.
Don’t overbake! The cookies will continue setting as they cool.
For extra chewiness, use a mix of brown and white sugar.
Store properly – Keep in an airtight container with a slice of bread to maintain softness.
