Description

These steakhouse garlic butter mushrooms are rich, garlicky, and buttery—perfect with steak, pasta, or as a mouthwatering appetizer!

Ingredients

Scale
  • lbs cremini or white button mushrooms, cleaned and trimmed

  • 4 tbsp unsalted butter

  • 2 tbsp olive oil

  • 5 garlic cloves, minced

  • 1 tbsp soy sauce or Worcestershire sauce

  • 1 tsp fresh thyme or rosemary (or ½ tsp dried)

  • Salt and black pepper, to taste

  • 1 tbsp chopped fresh parsley (for garnish)

Optional Add-ins:

  • Splash of white wine or balsamic vinegar

  • Grated Parmesan cheese

  • Red pepper flakes

Instructions

  • Prep mushrooms: Clean and trim mushrooms. Halve or quarter large ones.

  • Heat pan: In a large skillet, melt 2 tbsp butter with olive oil over medium-high heat.

  • Sauté mushrooms: Add mushrooms in a single layer. Cook undisturbed for 3–4 minutes, then stir and cook another 5–6 minutes until golden brown.

  • Add garlic and herbs: Reduce heat to medium. Stir in garlic, thyme, and remaining butter. Cook for 1–2 minutes until fragrant.

  • Finish with umami boost: Add soy sauce or Worcestershire and stir to coat.

  • Season and serve: Season with salt and pepper. Garnish with fresh parsley and serve hot.

Notes

  • Don’t overcrowd the skillet—cook in batches if needed for better browning.

  • Let mushrooms sit undisturbed at first to get a good sear.

  • Add wine or balsamic for extra depth of flavor.

  • Store leftovers in an airtight container and reheat gently in a skillet.

  • Use a mix of mushroom varieties for more flavor and texture.
