Ingredients

Scale

Main Ingredients:

  • 12 ounces pasta (penne, rotini, or rigatoni)
  • 1 pound ribeye steak, thinly sliced (or sirloin)
  • 1 small onion, diced
  • 1 green bell pepper, sliced
  • 1 red bell pepper, sliced
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon butter

Cheese Sauce:

  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1 ½ cups milk (whole milk for creaminess)
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 1 cup shredded provolone cheese
  • ½ cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon onion powder
  • ½ teaspoon mustard powder

Instructions

Step 1: Cook the Pasta

  1. Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil.
  2. Cook pasta according to package instructions until al dente.
  3. Drain and set aside.

Step 2: Sauté the Steak & Vegetables

  1. Heat olive oil and butter in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
  2. Add the sliced steak, season with salt, pepper, Worcestershire sauce, and smoked paprika.
  3. Sear for 2-3 minutes per side until browned, then remove and set aside.
  4. In the same skillet, add the onions and bell peppers, sautéing until softened.
  5. Stir in the garlic and cook for 30 seconds until fragrant.

Step 3: Make the Cheese Sauce

  1. In a separate saucepan, melt butter over medium heat.
  2. Whisk in the flour, cooking for 1 minute to remove the raw taste.
  3. Slowly whisk in milk and beef broth, stirring constantly.
  4. Bring to a simmer and add garlic powder, onion powder, and mustard powder.
  5. Reduce heat to low, then stir in provolone and mozzarella cheese until melted and smooth.

Step 4: Assemble the Dish

  1. Add the cooked pasta to the skillet with the vegetables.
  2. Pour the cheese sauce over everything and stir to coat.
  3. Return the steak to the skillet, tossing everything together.
  4. Cook for 2-3 minutes, allowing flavors to meld.

Step 5: Serve & Enjoy

  1. Garnish with fresh parsley or extra cheese.
  2. Serve immediately and enjoy the ultimate Philly Cheesesteak Pasta experience!

Notes

  • Use High-Quality Steak – Ribeye gives the best juicy, tender texture, but sirloin works well too.
  • Shred Cheese Fresh – Pre-packaged shredded cheese contains anti-caking agents that affect melting.
  • Cook Pasta Al Dente – Overcooked pasta gets mushy when mixed with the sauce.
  • Customize the Cheese – Try swapping in white American cheese, cheddar, or Monterey Jack.
  • Make It Spicy – Add red pepper flakes or jalapeños for a kick!
